Discover the Heartfelt Story Behind Kimble's Legacy Stones

Hi, I’m Stephanie Kimble—founder of Kimble’s Legacy Stones and proud daughter of Craig Kimble, a man whose quiet strength, unwavering faith, and love for nature continue to inspire everything I do.

My dad was happiest outdoors—hiking, camping, hunting, fishing—or simply sitting in his backyard after mowing the lawn, watching birds visit his feeders. He’d look each one up, learn about them, and marvel at God’s creation. Always curious, always learning. Always faithful. He read his Bible two to three times a day, prayed constantly, and never missed a Sunday at church.

As a kid, I could always count on him. He helped me with homework, especially math, and whenever things got hard, he’d say:

“You can do it if you try.”

“Just don’t give up.”

Those words stuck with me. So did his example of perseverance, humility, and grace.

Years later, we got news that changed everything. My dad was diagnosed with   Spinal Cerebellum Ataxia, a group of inherited brain disorders that progressively damage the brain areas controlling movement. Slowly, it took away his ability to hike, hunt, drive, walk… then his hearing and his speech.

But he never once asked, “Why me?”

He stayed strong. He stayed faithful.

And he told us, when the time came, he was ready to go to Heaven.

Even as his body failed, he found new ways to stay connected—to God, to us, and to the beauty of the world. One of those ways was tumbling stones he’d collected over the years on hikes and family trips. That’s when something lit up in me.

I’ve always loved creating things—thanks to my dad. So I asked for a few stones and began wire-wrapping them into jewelry. I sent him a photo of the first few pieces. His replies were short but full of love:

“Wow.”

“Nice!”

“Wonderful.”

“I love it.”

We started talking about turning it into a small business. I sent him a name idea, and he wrote back:

“Very nice. The name fits. I hope you do well. I should have more stones your size tomorrow; I’ll let you know.”

That was the last message I ever received from him.

He never got to finish the batch of stones he was tumbling for me.

When he passed away, my heart broke—but I knew I had to carry on what we started. That’s how Kimble’s Legacy Stones came to be.

Each piece I create is a tribute to my dad—a symbol of his love, his faith, and the beautiful bond we shared. Every stone carries a story. A memory. A legacy.

The photo on this page is from our last trip together to Estes Park. It’s one I’ll treasure forever—a reminder of who he was, and why I do this.
